I also finished my little rustic fence around the front flower beds.

And now sitting just inside the litte fence is our new "Welcome" greeter dog.

It looks so much like our little Geordie who crossed the Rainbow Bridge last September that I knew it was the perfect addition to our front garden.
There are zillions of tulips that I planted last fall screeching up out of the soil. I must have checked them 20 times today. Last time, I had to jump aside so the growing tulip wouldn't knock me over. LOL.
I planted poppy and purple coneflower seeds in a strip along the south side of our house (on the right in the picture). I've never grown either from seed but I decided to try it. I'm simply desperate to be planting growy things. No stores have any perennials for sale yet. I'd be happy with the dry stumps from last year but stores won't sell them until they're up and blooming. Trouble with moving to a new place... you don't know anyone to bum plants from.
I do have a bunch of Bearded or German Iris in the ground that my cousin gave me last fall and most of them have survived showing new little green tips. I'm also going to toss some zinnia seeds that the same cousin gave me in with the poppies and coneflowers.
Another friend last fall gave me Corydalis lutea and a Halcyon Hosta and a very interesting sounding grass called Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea 'Skyracer'. You can check them out on Google. There are some good pictures there. I now have all of them planted as well. So I have LOTS more things to watch growing.
With my seedlings, tulips, daffodils, flower bed mish-mash, and dormant hosta, ornamental grass and Corydalis, I have LOTS of watching to do. I am a happy camper!!!

Hi Coneflower,
We finally had a great day today too, up to 72! I found my first crocus of the season, but no tulips or daffs here yet, but I bet they'll show up soon.
Good time to get poppy and coneflower seeds out while it's early! I doubt your coneflowers will bloom this year but they can get a good start and once they bloom, you'll never go wanting again. We give away tons of them every spring because we have too many ... just let the seeds go in the fall and you'll be in the same boat eventually.
I'm envious of your tulips... we'll be lucky if we see any this year after the die off the past two years, but then again we might be pleasantly surprised!
Hi IVG. Lucky you with your crocus. I never got mine planted. I have half a notion to plant them now and see what happens. I also have some of those cute little short early iris. What do you think?
I am actually going to have to hook up the hose and do some watering. The new seeds I planted will never sprout without dampness for sure.
Hi Coneflower,
If you still have crocus bulbs you've not planted and they're not rotten yet, by all means plant them! They probably won't bloom this year but might put up a bit of foliage. Like the other bulbs, they need a prolonged period of cold in the ground to bloom successfully.
Forgot to mention I like your new little doggie greeter! He'll hold you in good stead until you can bring a new pup on board, right? :-)
Mornin' IVG. Great! I'll try to get them planted today. I can't bear to just throw them away...
Thanks for noticing our little greeter. He looks so much like our little Geordie RIP. When DD saw it he just said "Awwwwww".
Hi Coneflower!
Your enthusiasm has me excited too about your garden! LOL ... and it's a good thing since we've got a bit more time to wait before the snow has melted here. Being able to eat outside -- aaaaaaahhhhh ... now that's a sign that spring is finally here. :-)
Hi Olivia! You all can call me CF if you want to btw. FM asked me if that was okay and I said it's especially appropriate because I live in Cuyahoga Falls. LOL
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm behind in my posts. I'll try to get everything up to date tonight or tomorrow. My tomato seedlings look like a 6" tall forest. This is so cool. I guess it's time to transplant them now. Is that right IVG? See ya later, O.
